The 38th Baltic Criminological Seminar, organised by the School of Law of the University of Tartu and held on 11–12 June 2026 in Tartu, provides a platform for strengthening international academic cooperation and for fostering substantive interdisciplinary dialogue in criminology and related fields.

The Baltic Criminological Seminar is an international academic event that brings together scholars and practitioners in criminology and related social science disciplines from different countries. The aim of the seminar is to promote interdisciplinary academic discussion on current research topics in criminology, criminal policy, penal law and mechanisms of social control, and to provide a platform for international scholarly exchange.

The Baltic Criminological Seminars are held in rotation in Estonia, Lithuania and Poland, with each country in the network hosting the seminar once every three years. In addition to participants from the host countries, the seminar regularly attracts scholars and experts from other European countries and beyond, ensuring the event’s international scope and a diversity of scientific perspectives.

The Baltic Criminological Seminar is an important academic and networking event, focusing on interdisciplinary themes such as crime, criminal and penal policy, practices of justice, prevention and legal reforms. Participants include legal scholars, sociologists, social anthropologists, experts in criminal policy and security studies, as well as representatives of other related disciplines, supporting the exchange of knowledge and international academic cooperation.
