9th Tartu-Konstanz Doctoral Seminar “Persons and Personal Freedom in Private Law”
The 9th Tartu-Konstanz doctoral seminar will take place in Tartu and Tallinn on 2.12.-6.12.2019. The theme of the seminar will take a closer look at persons and personal freedom in private law.
The topic was initiated by the recent developments in private and public law where the role of private law has changed from behavioural control to the guarantee of balance of interests and fundamental rights and values found their way into private law relationships with proportionality, replacing individual freedom.
Presentations will deal with different aspects concerning above mentioned changes, starting with the historical overview of the concept of persons and continuing with problems like limits of personal freedom in contractual relations, also in labour, family, tenancy and inheritance law, influence of technology to personal freedom, data protection, freedoms and liability of persons, access to justice and problems concerning legal persons freedom in their decision making and commercial activities.
The seminar will include 15 presentations from the doctoral students of the University of Konstanz and 11 presentations from the doctoral and master students of the University of Tartu. Presentations will be given also by prof. Stürner, Stadler, Sein and assoc. professors Siimets-Gross and Ebers.
