Legal Studies at UT Ranked Among Top 300 in the World According to QS Subject Rankings
At the end of February, the prominent QS World University Rankings published its World University Rankings by Subjects 2019, covering 48 subjects.
This year 16 subjects taught at the University of Tartu are represented in the rankings, including law. Similarly to last year, law at UT was ranked 251-300.
"This is undoubtedly an important recognition for the School of Law and shows that the quality of our teaching and research is on a high level and competitive on the global scale," said Age Värv, Vice Director for Academic Affairs at the School of Law.
To compile the rankings, the international consulting company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) gathers information on more than 4300 universities all over the world. The number of ranked universities per subject varies between 50 and 600. 300 of best universities are ranked in the field of law.

When ranking universities, QS considers reputation among researchers and employers as well as bibliometrics from the Scopus database.
