On 25 June, the University of Tartu and OÜ Kauss Arhitektuur signed a contract for the reconstruction of the academic building and the landscaping of the yard area of the Tallinn office of the School of Law (Kaarli pst 3).
On 14 February 2024, the University of Tartu and the Estonian Association of Architects announced the architectural solution “Cascade”, designed by OÜ Kauss Arhitektuur, as the winning design for the Tallinn office of the School of Law.
The work is scheduled to be completed in May 2025 at a cost of €528,250 (excluding VAT). The university is negotiating funding for the whole project with two European banks.
Construction is expected to start in autumn 2025 and will take up to 15 months. The cost of the works will be determined by public procurement. The search for suitable replacements for teaching during the construction period is ongoing.
The renovated and extended building will create a modern learning environment for students and lecturers. The innovative spatial design includes both lecture halls and various learning and interaction areas that encourage student teamwork and interaction.
